Radio Dispatchers and Sheriff’s Call Takers complete months of specialized training to handle the over half million annual phone calls we receive from our thirteen contract city partners and all unincorporated county areas. They are trained to know the elements of crimes, knowledge of department and other agency resources, various criminal, civil, and municipal codes, and the use of our computer aided dispatch (CAD) and our latest state of the art 9-1-1 phone system.

Our Radio Dispatchers are the lifeline of the many patrol deputies and investigators who are in the community 24/7. They are assigned to one of our four different radio channels to dispatch calls for service, obtain resources and answers to requested information, and to always be aware of our deputies’ whereabouts and status. They are also utilized for various special events such as the annual Swallow’s Day Parade, the Orange County Fair, and our DUI checkpoints.
