Directed Enforcement Team (DET)

DET handles specific crime problems or concerns of south county communities. The Directed Enforcement Team is comprised of a sergeant, an investigator, nine deputies and two deputy probation officers. The deputies assigned to DET receive advanced training on intelligence gathering, surveillance techniques, and search warrant preparation and service. They are experienced, motivated, and highly trained enforcement personnel. The teams’ goals are to apprehend offenders, search premises and seize evidence of illegal activities. The DET team targets career criminals and violent offenders, conducts arrest warrants, conducts surveillances, search warrant service along with intelligence collection and analysis. In addition to these duties and assignments, the team works cooperatively with the Orange County Probation Department in monitoring probationers, including those released under AB109. DET is also tasked with ensuring ABC compliance at licensed alcohol sales establishments throughout all jurisdictions serviced by the Department.
