Public Affairs & Community Engagement

The Public Affairs and Community Engagement division is responsible for providing honest and transparent communication, and contemporary public safety and drug education to the public. PACE aims to build and maintain a strong reputation for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department by developing mutually beneficial partnerships and serving as the primary liaison between the community and the media. Public Affairs and Community Engagement is made up of several collaborative groups known as Community Engagement, Media Relations, and Public Relations.

Community Engagement

Community Engagement is the frontline in educating residents on matters critical to public safety. With leading-edge drug education programming for both students and families, and presentations that cover a variety of timely and relevant topics of community interest, Community Engagement is focused on direct outreach to the community the Sheriff’s Department serves.

Community Relations

Community Relations serves as the community and nonprofit liaison for the Department, coordinating county-wide community relations efforts and promoting OCSD as a committed community partner. Community Relations collaborates with Orange County faith, community leaders and nonprofit organizations to maintain and develop key partnerships, coordinates the Sheriff’s Interfaith Advisory Council, and implements special events that showcase the vital service OCSD provides to the community.

Media Relations

Public Information is responsible for the handling of media inquiries and the dissemination of honest, transparent, and timely communications to the citizens of Orange County, while being mindful of public safety, news outlet deadlines, and the limitations of Department resources.

Public Relations

Public Relations is responsible for strategically managing the communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between OCSD and its stakeholders. Public Relations focuses on proactive, positive promotion of OCSD’s programs and services and public education through traditional media, video production and social media.
