Southeast Operations

The Southeast Operations Division provides law enforcement services to the three contract cities of Lake Forest, Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita. In addition to servicing the three contract cities, the Southeast Operations Division provides law enforcement services to the unincorporated communities of Coto De Caza, Ladera Ranch, Las Flores, Wagon Wheel, Trabuco Canyon, and Rancho Mission Viejo. The Southeast Operations Division’s geographic area of responsibility covers over 273 square miles and includes portions of the Santa Ana Mountain range. The division provides law enforcement services to more than 280,753 residents. The Southeast Division works in a continuous partnership with the Southwest Division to provide special services to all contract cities and unincorporated areas.

Southeast Operations Division deploys 65 patrol cars during each 24-hour period to carry out our mission. This requires approximately 223 staff members, of which 168 are sworn peace officers. These Deputy Sheriffs are assigned to patrol, traffic enforcement, Directed Enforcement Team (DET), Juvenile Services Bureau (JSB), School Resource Officer (SRO) programs, the School Mobile Assessment Response Team (SMART), Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership (GRIP), supervision, management and other essential support functions.

The Sheriff’s Department’s goals include responding to calls for service in a prompt manner, protecting lives and property, maintaining the public peace and order, investigation of criminal offenses and traffic collisions, apprehending criminal offenders, and providing a wide variety of services directed at solving community problems and addressing local issues.

Our superior record of achievement is due to the collaborative efforts of everyone from the Sheriff to all the department members who support the Southeast Operations Division, as well as the partnerships developed with every component of the criminal justice system. Of course, none of it would be possible without the close relationship we maintain with our community partners, the businesses and residents in the communities we serve. Together, the personnel assigned to the Southeast Operations Division continue to serve the residents of South Orange County with professionalism, allowing the region to be consistently ranked among the safest communities in the state.
