Captain Alan Villanueva serves as the Chief of Police Services for the city of Aliso Viejo.
Aliso Viejo contracts with the Sheriff’s Department for all law enforcement needs. The captain oversees three sergeants, 18 patrol deputies, two deputies assigned to the city’s Special Enforcement Team, one and one half investigator positions, two community services officers and one emergency management program coordinator.
Community programs offered by Aliso Viejo Police Services include child safety, Neighborhood Watch, a planned Business Watch, other crime prevention services, homeless liaison services, Emergency Preparedness and community events. Aliso Viejo Police Services is dedicated to providing responsive, professional and caring law enforcement to all citizens. Aliso Viejo is known as a safe city and in 2024 was named the 2nd safest city in California by SafeWise, a security system company.
