Yes, an inmate may release his/her personal property. You must fill out a property release form in the facility lobby between the hours of 7:00 AM and 9 PM. The inmate must sign this release before the property can be released. Inmate clothing cannot be released without an exchange. Inmate funds can be released through the cashier's office. The inmate must sign a Cash Withdrawal Form authorizing the release of funds.

  • Cash bail may be paid in cash, credit or debit card, bank Cashier’s checks, personal checks, money orders, and Traveler’s checks. 
  • Payment of bail may be made through EZ Card and Kiosk Company. EZ Card and Kiosk offers online payments using a debit or credit card, kiosk payments (located in the lobby of both the Intake and Release Center (IRC) and the Theo Lacy Branch Jail) as well as telephone payments.
  • Bail can be posted 24/7 at the IRC Cashier's Office for inmates housed at any Orange County Sheriff’s Department Jail facility.  
  • Bail can be posted at the Theo Lacy Cashier's Office only for inmates housed at the Theo Lacy Jail.  The Theo Lacy Cashier’s Office is open from 6:30 pm until midnight Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 am until midnight Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • If the inmate is a new booking and has completed the booking process or has appeared in court and has been remanded to the custody of the Sheriff, bail can be posted at the IRC Cashier's Office at 550 N. Flower St., Santa Ana.
  • If the inmate has been sentenced, bail cannot be posted.
  • Bail/Bond information will be available approximately six hours after booking time.

Visiting hours are Fri-Mon 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., a total of three people may visit (two adults and one child under five). Last sign-up for visiting is 5:30 PM.

An inmate may have one 30 minute public visit per visiting day.

Visitors may park in the North parking structure, located across from the Juvenile Courthouse and next to UCI Medical Center.

The inmate's funds are transferred with the inmate.

The money order may either be deposited at the Cashier's office or mailed through the U.S. mail. The money order must be made payable to the “Orange County Sheriff’s Department” and the inmate’s name and booking number must be shown on the reference line of the money order.

GED, Food services, computer classes, Health and Aids classes are a few of programs offered.

Inmates are allowed a total of five paperback books or magazines at one time. All books and magazines must be through subscriptions; no personal party or hardback books will be accepted.

Yes, magazines from the publisher are permitted.

Obscene publications or writings, and mail containing information concerning where, how or from who such material may be obtained: anything that may incite murder, assault, violence; and any material concerning unlawful gambling or an unlawful lottery will not be accepted. Publications must be from the original publisher or an accepted distributor (i.e. Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, etc.) paperback books.

Yes, by order of the court an inmate may temporarily be released to attend a relative's funeral.

All calls of this nature are routed through Main Control to the proper locations.

Yes, the jail offers mental health services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Theo Lacy Facility does not release this information to the public. This information must be obtained from the inmates themselves. Inmates may submit a message slip requesting their release date.
