LAKE FOREST, Calif. (Sept. 11, 2026): On Thursday, Sept.10, at 8 p.m., deputies responded to the area of Portola Parkway and Market Place in Lake Forest regarding a traffic collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Deputies arrived and found an 83-year-old male, on the ground with severe injuries. He was transported to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The victim’s name is being withheld, pending positive identification and next-of-kin notification. The driver of the vehicle, Sean Micheal Kooklin, 48 years old of Lake Forest, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and was booked into the Orange County Jail.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is conducting the investigation into this fatal collision.
